This is a starter for asking stupid questions concerning security and it's complicated implications. The strange thing with security is that it is hard to tell if it is a bug or just a misunderstanding of the philosophy behind it. It might be better to have the descriptions and discussions of those oddities here in the wiki, instead of long threads in mailing lists or in the bug tracking system, so that those issues get better documented (see Dynamic Knowledge Repository). You can always link to the oddity pages in the mailing lists or bugtracking system, if it turns out it's a bug.
