The ATOM Browser was designed by Rahsaan Pringle. Improperly formatted XML will not load correctly into a DataSet with the DataSet.ReadXML() method. Something as simple as having a title inside and outside of your items constitutes bad XML. Unfortunately, you can’t always dictate the quality of the XML you get. This application solves that problem by using Xpath to pull good DataSets out of improperly formatted XML. The ATOM Bomb illustrates what happens when you try to read improperly formatted XML with the DataSet.ReadXML method. Write to Local Directory writes valid XML and XSD from the current RSS feed. The “meat” of this application is the clsATOM class. It will attempt to get an RSS feed. If the feed is bad, clsATOM uses Xpath to get a valid DataSet. The entire operation is transparent to the calling class.
